FDA: Gloves & Ventilation use when supplies are in shortages
Conserving Medical Supplies:
The FDA has issued two letters to healthcare providers. One offers guidance on conserving medical gloves — for example, when supplies are critically low, gloves may be used beyond their shelf life, or the same gloves may be used between patients with the same infectious diagnosis. The other letter includes guidance on managing potential ventilator shortages — for instance, in some situations, continuous ventilators labeled for the home may be used for hospitalized patients.
