Second-trimester miscarriage
Researchers in Switzerland describe the case of a woman with COVID-19 who had a miscarriage at 19 weeks’ gestation. Two days before miscarrying, she presented with myalgia, fatigue, pain while swallowing, diarrhea, and dry cough, and she tested positive for coronavirus. After the miscarriage, SARS-CoV-2 was detected in placental samples, but the fetus tested negative. The researchers note that other causes of miscarriage could not be ruled out.
